Headache & Neck Pain Treatment in Milton
Chiropractors and Registered Massage Therapists under one roof — so the joints, muscles and habits behind your headaches and neck pain can be treated together, not one at a time.

Headaches and neck pain often share the same source.
Many headaches start in the neck. Stiff joints at the top of the spine, tight muscles across the shoulders and jaw, long hours at a desk or on a phone, poor sleep and stress can all feed into the same cycle of neck pain and recurring headaches.
Your first step is an assessment to understand what's actually driving your symptoms. From there, your chiropractor builds a plan that may combine hands-on care, exercises and posture changes — and, where it helps, massage therapy with one of our RMTs down the hall.

When to see a doctor first
Most headaches and neck pain are not serious, but some symptoms need urgent medical attention. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department if you have:
- A sudden, severe headache — the worst of your life
- A headache with fever, a stiff neck, confusion or a rash
- New weakness, numbness, trouble speaking, vision changes or loss of balance
- A headache or neck pain after a significant head injury or accident
If anything in your assessment suggests a medical cause, your chiropractor will refer you to your family doctor.
Questions We Often Hear
Can a chiropractor help with headaches?
Chiropractic care may help with some types of headaches, especially tension-type headaches and headaches that start in the neck (cervicogenic headaches). Your chiropractor will first assess your neck, upper back, jaw and posture to understand what is driving your headaches, then recommend a plan, which may include hands-on care, exercises and posture changes.
Should I see a chiropractor or a massage therapist for neck pain?
It depends on what is causing it. Joint stiffness and movement problems often respond well to chiropractic care, while muscle tension and trigger points often respond well to massage therapy. At Soma you do not have to choose: a free discovery visit with a chiropractor is a good place to start, and your care can include both.
Do I have to have my neck adjusted?
No. Adjustments are one option, not a requirement. Your chiropractor will explain your options and can use gentler techniques such as mobilization, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture and exercise. Let them know about any concerns before treatment begins.
How many visits will I need?
It varies from person to person, depending on how long you have had symptoms and what is causing them. After your assessment, your chiropractor will explain the plan and how progress will be checked along the way.
Is treatment for headaches and neck pain covered by insurance?
Most extended health plans cover both chiropractic care and massage therapy by a Registered Massage Therapist. OHIP does not cover chiropractic care. We offer direct billing depending on your provider, and receipts for reimbursement otherwise.
When should I see a medical doctor instead?
Seek urgent medical care for a sudden, severe headache, a headache with fever, stiff neck or confusion, new weakness or numbness, vision changes, or pain after a significant head injury. If your assessment suggests a medical cause, your chiropractor will refer you to your family doctor.
Insurance & Coverage
Most extended health plans cover massage therapy and chiropractic care. We offer direct billing depending on your provider's policy — just bring your insurance information to your first appointment. For clients without direct billing, we provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement.
